How much does a flower bouquet cost in Melbourne?

Our bouquets run from $79 to $200, and most people spend around $110–$125.

What moves the price is stem count and what’s in season, not markup. A bouquet built from whatever is best at market that week costs less than one built around a specific flower that’s out of season and flown in. If you have a fixed budget, say so — we’d rather give you a generous bouquet of what’s good right now than a thin one of what you named.

As a rough guide: $79–$90 buys a genuine posy, enough to matter on a desk or bedside table. $110–$139 is the size most people picture when they say “a bouquet of flowers” — the one that fills a vase properly. $165 and above is the statement version, for a milestone or an apology that needs to land.

Choosing a size

Small bouquets ($79–$90) — a posy for a hospital bedside, a thank-you to a colleague, or a Tuesday that needed improving. Small does not mean apologetic; it means proportionate.

Standard bouquets ($110–$139) — our most-ordered size, and the safe choice when you don’t know the room. Fills a standard vase without needing to be split.

Large bouquets ($165–$200) — for anniversaries, big congratulations, funerals and anything where the size is part of the message. Order these a day ahead where you can, so we can bring in the volume of stems.

If you’re stuck between two sizes, go up. Nobody has ever been disappointed by a bouquet that was slightly too big.

Led by the season

Our collection changes through the year, because Melbourne’s growers do. That’s why several of our bouquets are named for the season rather than the flower — Seasonal Rustic, Autumn Vibe, Moody Tones, Native and Seasonal.

Ordering seasonally gets you fresher flowers for less money, and it’s the reason our Florist’s Surprise Bouquet is consistently one of our best-value orders: you’re buying our pick of the market that morning rather than a fixed recipe.

If you want something specific — peonies in November, tulips through winter, natives year-round — check the individual product page, or call us and we’ll tell you honestly what’s good this week.

Bouquets by occasion

Birthdays — bright and generous. Let’s Celebrate and St Kilda The Queen are the usual picks.

Congratulations and new arrivals — soft palettes read warmer than bold ones here. Pink Cloud and Simple Grace both work.

Anniversaries and romance — Sweet Heart, Dusk Petals, or our Locally Grown Grandiflora Roses when it needs to be roses.

Sympathy — restrained, textural, no bright colour. Our natives and moody tones suit this better than a mixed bright bunch. See our sympathy collection for arrangements made specifically for funerals and condolences.

Thank-yous and corporate — a long-lasting native bouquet holds up in an office far better than soft-stemmed flowers.

Bouquet, vase arrangement, or something longer-lasting?

A hand-tied bouquet is the classic gift: wrapped, presented, and ready to go straight into the recipient’s own vase. It’s what most people mean by flowers.

A vase arrangement removes that step, which matters if you’re sending to a hospital, an office, or anyone who won’t have a vase to hand. See our vase arrangements.

If you want something that lasts months rather than a fortnight, a potted orchid or indoor plant is the better call — see orchids and indoor plants.

Making your bouquet last

Recut the stems. A clean diagonal cut, 2cm off, under running water. Stems seal themselves within hours of being cut, and a fresh cut reopens them.

Change the water every two days. Not top it up — change it. Cloudy water is bacteria, and bacteria is what blocks the stems and drops the heads early.

Keep them cool and out of the sun. A sunny windowsill is the fastest way to lose a bouquet. So is sitting next to a fruit bowl — ripening fruit releases ethylene, which makes flowers age quickly.

Strip any leaves below the waterline. Submerged foliage rots and fouls the water within a day.

Done properly, most of our seasonal bouquets hold well for seven to ten days, and natives considerably longer.
